Serving is Different From Helping
Helping is different from serving because helping implies that there is some sort of inequality between the helper and the person that needs helping like the helper has something the other doesn't When we help we unknowingly diminish someones self esteem, maybe this is why students don't really ask for help or say "no" when they're asked if they need help. Serving on the other hand doesn't give off that vibe of inequality. As stated in the article "Service is a relationship between equals." There is no diminishing of self esteem when you give service to someone. When serving there is no debt that needs to be payed like there is when helping someone.
